About the Role
Join the Marketing Data Science team at a leading organization as we drive the success of Starzplay, our flagship premium video streaming platform. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will design and implement advanced analytics solutions and predictive models to fuel subscriber growth and enhance business performance for Starzplay.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the launch and ongoing optimization of Starzplay, functioning as an agile, startup-minded team within a larger corporate environment.
- Collaborate with marketing, product, and content teams to evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and initiatives, providing insights into sales, profitability, customer journeys, and consumption patterns.
- Apply deep expertise in media investment channels and associated performance metrics to guide strategic decisions.
- Lead the creation, maintenance, and improvement of marketing mix and multi-touch attribution models, ensuring data-driven allocation of marketing spend.
- Partner closely with cross-functional teams and external partners to deliver actionable insights that maximize Starzplayβs marketing ROI.
- Analyze diverse datasets to develop industry-leading models and analyses, supporting end-to-end project execution from conception to delivery.
- Stay current with emerging modeling techniques and algorithms, proactively integrating innovative approaches to enhance business impact.
Day-to-Day Activities
- Evaluate the performance of marketing campaigns, providing clear recommendations for optimization.
- Assess media investments, analyzing both spend and returns to inform strategic choices.
- Develop robust data frameworks and analytical methodologies.
- Build, refine, and maintain advanced statistical models for marketing mix and attribution analysis.
- Create optimization algorithms that leverage model outputs to drive subscriber acquisition and revenue growth.
- Forecast user lifecycle stages and predict key behaviors.
- Segment users based on viewing and engagement data to inform personalized marketing strategies.
- Conduct ROI analyses for content assets, including entertainment, sports, and advertising properties.
- Translate complex analytics into compelling narratives and visualizations for executive audiences, outlining recommended actions.
- Present findings on media effectiveness to senior stakeholders, shaping strategic action plans.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelorβs degree in a quantitative field such as business analytics, statistics, mathematics, economics, or industrial engineering; advanced degrees (Masterβs/PhD) are advantageous.
- Minimum of 4 yearsβ experience developing data science and statistical models (e.g., multivariate regression, Markov chains, time series, causal inference).
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience with media mix modeling and multi-touch attribution.
- Proficiency in both linear and non-linear optimization techniques.
- Advanced skills in SQL and R; experience with RShiny app development is a plus.
- Familiarity with Ads Data Hub, BigQuery, or AWS Redshift is desirable.
- Experience designing and evaluating experimental and incrementality tests.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Solid understanding of media and advertising channels, including digital, display, and paid search.
- Demonstrated curiosity, leadership qualities, and business insight.
- Passion for leveraging data to inform strategy and product development.
- Background in subscription-based or eCommerce businesses is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate, motivate, and influence across teams.
